Job Title – Lending Collections Specialist
Location: Lincoln, NE
Schedule: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Job Duties
As a Recovery Specialist, you’ll protect both our members and the credit union by managing delinquent accounts with care and professionalism. You’ll oversee the recovery of delinquent loans, handle repossessions and charge-offs, coordinate with external agencies, and assist with bankruptcy filings. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work with both members and staff professionally and discreetly. Through effective recovery efforts and respectful communication, you’ll help members find solutions while safeguarding the credit union’s assets.
Key responsibilities include:
- Handle repossessions, charge-offs, and related legal correspondence.
- Contact delinquent members by phone and mail, taking appropriate action to bring accounts current.
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly collection reports for management.
- Serve as a liaison with attorneys, collection agencies, and repossession companies.
- Assist with bankruptcy filings, including coordinating with trustees and debtors’ attorneys.
- Keep staff informed of complex or high-risk accounts.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3–5 years of experience in collections or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Experience working with delinquent accounts, legal correspondence, and external agencies preferred.
